CAMBRIDGE, MA - The Rutgers volleyball team (3-5) dropped its opening match at the Harvard Invitational 0-3 to Long Island (4-4) Sept. 8.

RU nearly pulled out a victory in game one, edged out by a score of 32-34.  The Scarlet Knights then fell 19-30 in game two, and 23-30 in game three.

Senior Lora Yankauskas (Paramus, N.J.) led the Rutgers offense with her 17 kills, adding a match-high 19 digs and four blocks.  Senior Jocelyn Greenwald (Old Tappan, N.J.) contributed 15 assists and eight digs, while sophomore Roxy Calder (Oceanside, Calif.) had 17 assists for the Scarlet Knights.

Rutgers will finish competition at the Harvard Invitational Saturday, Sept. 9, facing the host Crimson at 1:00 p.m. and Binghamton at 4:00 p.m.
