Rutgers Women's Soccer to Face In-State Rival Princeton

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers women's soccer will take a break from BIG EAST play to face non-conference foe Princeton on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 7:30 p.m. in a battle for state bragging rights. The Scarlet Knights (6-3-1, 1-1-1) are coming off their first BIG EAST win of the season, a 2-1 defeat of Georgetown Sunday, Sept. 30 at Yurcak Field. Princeton (3-4-1, 1-0-0) has won two in a row.
"Playing Princeton is always fun because it's a great in-state rivalry," said head coach Glenn Crooks. "I am sure it will be a fantastic game."
Rutgers is led by sophomore Gina DeMaio (Parsippany, N.J.) who has four goals and nine points in nine games. Goalie Erin Guthrie (Sparta, N.J.) has five shutouts on the season and 19 for her career, good for fourth place on the Rutgers all-time list. Princeton is led by junior midfielder Jen Om, who has three goals and six points.
