BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The Rutgers University volleyball team fell to Long Island University 3-0 (30-16, 30-15, 30-12) Wednesday evening in non-conference action at the Wellness, Recreation and Athletic Center.
Rutgers was led by sophomore Stephanie Moore (Dallas, Texas) who posted a team-high eight kills and nine digs. Junior setter Roxy Calder (Oceanside, Calif.) also posted nine digs as RU fell to 3-15 on the year.
Martina Racic hit .562 for the Blackbirds and was one of three LIU players with double figures in kills. Shelby Heggie recorded a match-high 13 kills, while Martina Wagner posted a triple-double with 12 kills, 15 digs, and 13 aces. The Blackbirds served up 20 aces for the match.
LIU doubled the Scarlet Knights' kill total, 48-24 and hit at a .384 clip for the match. The Blackbirds improve to 12-10 overall on the season.
The Scarlet Knights will return to BIG EAST action Friday, Oct. 26, against Cincinnati. The match will be at the College Avenue Gym at 7 p.m..
