Rutgers Falls at No. 16 Albany, 2-1

Albany, N.Y. - Rutgers could not overcome a deficit, falling to No. 16 Albany by a 2-1 score on Sunday afternoon at Alumni Turf Field.
The Scarlet Knights (7-10) got on the board in the 58th minute on a goal by junior Carrie Grainger. The Island Heights, N.J. native tallied the score off an assist from junior Amy Lewis (Hainesport, N.J.)
The Great Danesn (13-4) put their first point on the scoreboard at the 17:09 mark when sophomore Nicole Savage scored her team-leading 13th goal of the year. Freshman Alysia Hough added the second goal in the 43rd minute from five yards out on the right side.
UAlbany outshot Rutgers 16-9 in the contest, including a 9-5 edge in the second half. The Great Danes also held an 11-5 advantage in penalty corners.
Rutgers returns to BIG EAST play on Friday, Oct. 26 traveling to Georgetown for a 4:00 p.m. contest.
