West Virginia Tops Rutgers 3-0

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The Rutgers University volleyball team dropped its 12th consecutive match of the season, while West Virginia won its second straight after upending the Scarlet Knights 3-0 (30-18, 30-20, 30-22) Saturday afternoon at the WVU Coliseum.

The Mountaineers improve to 15-14 overall and 5-9 in the BIG EAST, while RU drops to 3-21 overall and 1-12 in conference play.

Sophomore Kyra Thompson (Tuscon, Ariz.) once again led the Scarlet Knights with a team-high eight kills and seven digs. Thompson has now led Rutgers in kills in 14 of the 16 matches she has played in this season. Freshman Brittany Scoggins (Chattanooga, Tenn.) recorded a team-high eight digs, while sophomore Stephanie Moore (Dallas, Texas) tallied a team-high nine assists.

Abby Tevis notched a game-high 14 kills for the Mountaineers, while Kailee Goold added a match-high 33 assists in the win.

Rutgers will close out its season Sunday at Pittsburgh. The match is set to being at 2 p.m.
