PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers redshirt senior wrestler Steve Adamcsik (Chester, N.J.) is ranked No. 19 in the 141-pound weight class in the Division I Individual Wrestling Rankings. The poll, a collaborative effort by InterMat, the National Wrestling Media Association (NWMA), and the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA), ranks the top 20 wrestlers in each weight class. Adamcsik was ranked No. 20 in last week's poll.
"Steve is training at a very high level right now, which is exciting to watch," said head coach Scott Goodale. "It is a long season and he needs to continue to do all the right things in order to achieve his goals. The staff is very excited by his leadership and his strong desire to win."
After redshirting last season, Adamcsik returned to the mat in the Oklahoma-Brockport Gold Tournament held in Brockport, N.Y. on Nov. 10, reaching the finals of his weight class before falling 6-4 in the championship round. In the Navy Classic, held on Nov. 17 in Annapolis, Md., Adamcsik won the championship in the 141-pound class with a 12-6 victory over Bloomsburg's George Hickman
The Rutgers wrestling team next competes at Ohio State on Monday, Nov. 26, at 7:00 p.m.
