Rutgers Wrestling Falls to Drexel, 28-5, in Season Finale

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Rutgers University wrestling team fell in its last match of the season, 28-5, to Drexel on Thursday night at the Daskalakis Center.
The Scarlet Knights (10-6, 5-3 EIWA) won just two bouts as the Dragons recorded bonus points in three of its seven victories. Senior Dan Hilt (Manalapan, N.J.) and sophomore Matt Pletcher (Eastampton, N.J.) were the lone winners for the Scarlet Knights.
Hilt won an exciting overtime bout, 9-8, at 133 pounds over Drexel's Billy Martin, while Pletcher won a 5-3 decision at 165 pounds against the Dragons' Billy Haydt. The win for Pletcher was his 10th in his last 11 bouts.
At 174 pounds, junior Mike Whalen (Lake Hiawatha, N.J.) fell in a tight 3-2 overtime decision, while at heavyweight, sophomore Mike D'Amico (Kenilworth, N.J.) lost by the same score.
The Scarlet Knights will wrap up the season when they travel to East Stroudsburg, Pa., to compete in the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA) Championships from March 2-3.
