Rutgers Drops Road Finale at Villanova, 74-51

VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Rutgers men's basketball team dropped a 74-51 contest against Villanova on Saturday.  The loss finishes out RU's season on the road and drops the Scarlet Knights to 10-18, 3-12 in BIG EAST play.  Villanova advances to 19-9, 7-7 in the BIG EAST.

Senior guard Marquis Webb (Paterson, N.J.) led the Scarlet Knights with 12 points, followed by sophomore forward JR Inman (Pomona, N.Y.) with eight.  Senior forward Adrian Hill (Canton, Ohio) and sophomore forward Jaron Griffin (Manchester, N.J.) had six points each.  Inman led in rebounding with a career high of 14. 

As a team, RU shot just 31 percent (18-of-57) from the field, and 33 percent       (5-of-15) from behind the three-point line, while Villanova made 41 percent     (23-of-56) of their field goals and 42 percent (9-of-21) from three-point range.

The Wildcats had four players score in double digits.  Scottie Reynolds scored 25 points, going 8-of-14 from the field and 6-of-10 from behind the arc.  Curtis Sumpter scored 13 points, while Dante Cunningham and Mike Nardi scored 12 points and 11 points, respectively. 

Rutgers will end its regular season at the Louis Brown Athletic Center against Notre Dame on Saturday, March 3.  Tip off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. and the game will be televised nationally on ESPN.
