Rutgers Women's Tennis Drops Match to Syracuse, 4-3

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Rutgers women's tennis team lost on Sunday to BIG EAST foe Syracuse, 4-3, at the Busch Campus Tennis Bubble.
With the loss, RU drops to 3-4 overall, 1-2 in the BIG EAST, while the Oranges' record is now 3-6 overall, 1-2 in BIG EAST play.
The Scarlet Knights won the doubles point, recording victories in the second and third doubles positions. Katrina Elder-Bush (Boston, M.A.) and Caitlin Baker (Altoona, P.A.) defeated Carolina Huignard and Chelsea Jones, 8-2, bringing their record to 2-2 for the season at second doubles. Anela Dujsic (Mississauga, Ontario) and Christine Tran (Cantreville, V.A.) won against Kathleen Ready and Anne Magellan, 8-6, in the third doubles slot.
Elder-Bush defeated Maria Vasilyeva at first singles, 6-2, 6-2, and is now 3-1 at first singles. Baker took down Jones at the fourth singles slot, 6-0, 7-5, while at fifth singles, Tran forced her opponent into a tiebreaker, but was defeated, 1-6, 6-0, 6-2.
The Scarlet Knights will next face Columbia in New York on Saturday, March 3. The match is slated for 11:00 a.m.
