PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers senior wide receiver Shawn Tucker (Parkland, Fla.) has learned the NCAA has denied his request for an additional year of eligibility. Tucker broke his ankle in the Howard game on Sept. 23 and missed the rest of the season.
Tucker, who is a double major in geography and labor studies, will graduate this spring from Rutgers.
"Shawn is a great young man and I wish him success in all of his future endeavors," said head coach Greg Schiano. "He was an important member of our football family as a team captain both on and off the field."
Tucker will now prepare for the upcoming NFL Draft. He finished his career with 115 receptions for 1,559 yards and four touchdowns.
"I enjoyed my five years here at Rutgers," said Tucker. "I was hoping to come back to school, but now this is the time to pursue any opportunities to play in the NFL. I graduate in May with two degrees so I am excited for what lies ahead in my future."
Tucker is ranked ninth all-time in school history in receiving yards and 10th in receptions.
