PISCATAWAY, N.J. - For the third-consecutive week, a member of the No. 19 Rutgers women's lacrosse team has earned weekly BIG EAST honors, as freshman Brooke Cantwell (Moorestown, N.J.) was named to the conference's weekly honor roll. Cantwell totaled six goals in two games, including three scores in a 10-8 conference win over Loyola (Md.) on March 11.
Cantwell scored three goals in RU's first game of the week, a 19-10 loss at Princeton on March 7. She took four shots on goal and had five draw controls against Princeton. The freshman then went on to record her second hat trick in as many games with three more goals against conference opponent Loyola on March 11. She had two draw controls in the game to total five for the week.
Cantwell joins Anne Marchitello (Medford Lakes, N.J.) and Michelle Poole (Hackettstown, N.J.) as the other Scarlet Knights to receive BIG EAST honors this season. Rutgers is currently 4-1 on the season, including a 1-0 mark in conference play, and RU's 4-1 start to the season has earned the team national attention. The Scarlet Knights are currently ranked at No. 19 in the most recent Inside Lacrosse Media poll and also received votes in the March 12 Brine/IWLCA poll.
The Scarlet Knights will be back in action when they travel to Monmouth University on Wednesday, March 14, for a 4:00 p.m. game.
