Scarlet Knight Gymnasts Take Second at Quad-Meet

The Rutgers gymnastics team (15-5) got its fifteenth win of the season when it posted a score of 190.225 to take second at a quad-meet in Morgantown, West Virginia. The Scarlet Knights defeated both Temple (189.975) and Yale (186.925) but fell to EAGL rival West Virginia, who finished with a score of 195.275.
Rutgers boasted top-three finishers in two of the four rotations. Seniors Lorena Johnson (Lawrenceville, Ga.) and Beth Fittery (Denver, Pa.) scored a 38.050 and a 37.875, respectively, to take second and third in the all-around, as well.
On vault, the Scarlet Knights scored a 48.175, their second-highest score of the season. Kelly Straka (Fairless Hills, Pa.) led the team with a score of 9.700, followed by Laura Sevarino (Cheshire, Conn.) and Johnson, who both scored a 9.675.

Rutgers struggled on balance beam with Pannick's score of 9.075 leading the team. As they've done all season long, however, the Scarlet Knights had another strong showing on floor. The team finished with a score 48.625, the second highest mark of the season. Straka led Rutgers with her score of 9.800 to take second overall. Fittery and Sevarino were not far behind, both posting a score of 9.725.
RU, under the direction of head coach Chrystal Chollet-Norton, has now beaten Temple and Yale twice this season. In addition, Rutgers has now recorded seasons of at least fifteen wins in three of the last five years.
The Scarlet Knights will wrap-up their regular season on Saturday, March 24, when they travel to Penn State to face the Nittany Lions as well as the University of New Hampshire. The meet is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. The following weekend, Rutgers will travel to the EAGL Championships. The Championships will be held on Friday, March 30, on the campus of the University of Maryland
