Rutgers Field Hockey Stands in First Place at Model Classic

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Rutgers field hockey team is currently in first place after two rounds of play at the Model Classic. The Scarlet Knights have 27 points while Hofstra stands in second with 25 points. RU went 5-0-1 in the second round to move ahead of the Pride. The first round of play wrapped-up on March 31 and the second round was held on Saturday, April 14.
Quinnipiac will host the finals of the Model Cup on Saturday, April 21. The round will be comprised of full 70-minute games. At last year's inaugural tournament, Hofstra defeated Quinnipiac, 2-0. At the conclusion of play on Saturday, the Model Cup will be awarded to the championship club and an All-Tournament Team will be announced.
TheRutgers University field hockey joined six other squads'Fairfield University, Hofstra University, Monmouth University, Quinnipiac University, the University of Rhode Island, and Sacred Heart University'at the second annual Model Cup Championship, held on the campuses of Fairfield, Hofstra and Quinnipiac.
