Rutgers Field Hockey Announces 2007 Schedule

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Rutgers field hockey team, under the direction of head couch Liz Tchou, has announced its schedule for the fall of 2007.
Before opening the regular season, the Scarlet Knights have a scrimmage at the Rutgers Stadium Complex with James Madison Aug. 18 at 2:00
Official games begin on Aug. 25 and 26 at home, where RU will take on Drexel and West Chester, respectively, at times to be determined.
Rutgers will hit the road for the next three games, traveling first to Easton, Pa. to face Lafayette at 7:00 on Aug. 29. The Knights will then face UMass on Sept. 1 at 1:00 in Amherst and Delaware on Sept. 7 in Newark, Del.
Rutgers will return to the banks for one home game with Towson on Sept. 9 at noon, before the next weekend's road trip.
Sept. 14 will open the BIG EAST schedule, as the Scarlet Knights will play at Syracuse at 6:00. Rutgers will then take on Cornell of the Ivy League on Sept. 16, at noon, in Ithaca. Next, Rutgers returns home for its longest homestand of the year, first welcoming BIG EAST foe Villanova on Sept. 21 at 7:30, and UVM on Sept. 23 at 1;00.
The following weekend features two non-conference games at the Rutgers Stadium Complex, with Saint Joseph's visiting on Sept. 28 at 7:30 and Brown arriving on Sept. 30 at noon. The Knights travel to Louisville, Ky. the next weekend, where they will play BIG EAST member Louisville on Oct. 5 at 3:00, and remain in Kentucky to play UVA on Oct. 6 at 2:00.
Rutgers will play a single home game with BIG EAST opponent UConn on Oct. 13 at 1:00, will host Providence on Oct. 19 at 7:30 in another BIG EAST match up, and will make the trip up the Hudson to play Albany on Oct. 21 at 3:00.
The BIG EAST regular season concludes with a game at Georgetown on Oct. 26 at 7:00.
The 2007 regular season will end with Senior Day on Oct. 28, when the Knights will have their last home game, hosting Columbia at 1:00. The top four teams in the BIG EAST regular season standings will get together for the 2007 BIG EAST Tournament from Nov. 1-4.
Rutgers finished the 2006 season with a record of 6-13, including a 1-5 mark in conference play.
