Rutgers Volleyball Selected 13th in Preseason BIG EAST Poll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Rutgers University Women's Volleyball Team finished tied for 13th in the 2007 Preseason BIG EAST Poll voted on by the league's head coaches.
The Scarlet Knights, who finished 5-20 last season and 2-12 in the Big East, garnered 34 points in the poll. Notre Dame was selected first with 188 points and eight first place votes, while Louisville was close behind with 187 points and seven first place votes. St. John's, which captured the 2006 Big East regular season crown, was selected third.
Rutgers returns four starters from last season's squad including senior Amanda Meyer (Naperville, Ill.) and junior Roxy Calder (Oceanside, Calif.). Meyer placed second on the team last season in both kills with 217 and blocks with 59. Calder led the team in assists with 572.
The Scarlet Knights will begin play on August 24 when they travel to Athens, Ohio to compete in the Hampton Inn Challenge against James Madison.
