Scarlet Knights Drop Match to Undefeated Army

WEST POINT, N.Y. - Senior Amanda Meyer (Naperville, Ill.) made her return to the Rutgers University lineup and led the team with nine kills but it wasn't enough to knock off undefeated Army in women's volleyball action Saturday evening.
The Scarlet Knights fell to 1-4 on the season, while the Black Knights improve to 6-0 after topping RU 3-0 (30-22, 30-19, 30-23).
Freshman Emma Chrystal (Portage, Mich.) led Rutgers with 15 assists and added six digs, while junior Roxy Calder (Oceanside, Calif.) was second on the team in both assists with 12 and digs with 10.
Jamie Clark led the way for Army as she tallied a game-high 14 kills on only 25 attempts. Lauren Teal contributed 11 kills on only 21 attempts as the Black Knights out-hit the Scarlet Knights .280 to .129.
Rutgers will return to the court on Thursday, Sept. 6, when the Scarlet Knights travel to Portland, Oregon to take on Portland State at 7 p.m.
