PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Rutgers men's soccer team will host the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) on Saturday, Sept. 8, at 7:00 p.m. The Scarlet Knights, who started the season 0-2, will look to rebound against the Flames in their home opener at Yurcak Field.
RU is coming off a pair of road loses to Michigan and Oakland University this past weekend. Rutgers fell to the Wolverines 3-0 on Friday and dropped a hard-fought 2-1 overtime contest to the Grizzles on Sunday.
"A lot of positive things came out of this weekend," said head coach Bob Reasso. "I think our fans are going to love Dilly Duka, he was our top player all weekend long. He was absolutely exceptional. On the second day, Adam Sternberger, Chris Moore, Tomislav Barisic and Kevin O'Connor started to show more of what they were capable of doing."
"It's a young season, we're figuring out who we are, but I love the team," Reasso added. "The guys showed a great fitting spirit. I think we'll see a better [Rutgers] team Saturday against the University of Illinois at Chicago."
Junior Adam Lloyd (Warwick, N.J.) leads the Scarlet Knights with his goal against Oakland, while freshman Dilly Duka (Montville, N.J.) recorded RU's first assist of the season.
UIC, ranked 24th in the nation by Soccer America, enters Saturday's match with a 1-0 record after defeating Marquette 3-1 in its season opener. The game also marks the first-ever meeting between the Scarlet Knights and the Flames.
"John Trask is a fantastic young coach, and his teams play great soccer," Reasso stated.
