Portland, Ore. - The Rutgers University volleyball team began a three day road trip to Oregon with a 3-0 (30-11, 30-14, 30-14) loss to Portland State at the Stott Center Thursday evening.
With the loss, the Scarlet Knights fell to 1-5, while the Vikings snapped a two-match losing streak to improve to 5-2 on the season.
Freshman Lauren Voss (Hartland, Wis.) posted a team-high six kills and also contributed six digs for the Scarlet Knights, while junior Roxy Calder (Oceanside, Calif.) recorded a team-high 15 assists.
Marija Vojnovic led Portland State with a game-high 12 kills on only 24 attempts and added eight digs. Michelle Segun added 10 kills and was one of four PSU players that hit over .500 percent for the match. Portland State posted 19 more kills and nine more service aces than the Scarlet Knights.
Rutgers will take on Oregon in back-to-back matches on consecutive days starting on Friday, Sept. 8 at 7 p.m.
