Scarlet Knights Fall to Connecticut 3-0

STORRS, CONN. – Sophomore Emma Chrystal (Portage, Mich.) tied her career-high with 12 kills, however the Rutgers volleyball team was unable to capture a set in a 3-0 (25-13, 31-29, 25-19) loss to BIG EAST rival Connecticut on Sunday afternoon at Gampel Pavilion.
The Scarlet Knights (1-14, 0-6) have dropped 10 straight matches since a 3-0 sweep of La Salle on Sept. 6. The Huskies improve to 13-6 overall and 3-2 in league play.
Sophomore Caitlin Saxton (Encinitas, Calif.) recorded a team-high 13 digs to go along with seven kills for the Scarlet Knights, while senior Roxy Calder (Oceanside, Calif.) dished out a team-best 19 assists.
Connecticut was led by Chauntay Mickens, who tallied a team-high 11 kills. Jessica Isaac dug a match-high 19 balls for the Huskies.
Rutgers will return back to New Brunswick for a non-league match Wednesday, Oct. 15 against Fordham at the College Ave. Gym. The Rams topped the Scarlet Knights last season 3-0.
