Rutgers Hosts Louisville in BIG EAST Showdown on Friday

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - In a key BIG EAST match-up, Rutgers field hockey team hosts Louisville on Friday, Oct. 3 at 7:30 p.m. at RU Stadium Complex. The meeting will be the first time RU has faced another ranked opponent this season. The Cardinals are No. 11 while the Scarlet Knights are No. 16 in this week's STX/NFHCA Division I Poll.
RU (9-1, 1-1) has been idle since last Sunday, Sept. 28. RU posted a 4-3 overtime win over UNH. The victory was the ninth of the season for the Scarlet Knights, the most wins under sixth-year head coach Liz Tchou. The nine wins are also the most for the program since 1999 (10).
As a team, RU is ranked in a number of NCAA statistical categories. The Scarlet Knights are ranked eighth in goals per game (3.50) and 11th in scoring margin (1.85). They also place in the top-20 in points per game and penalty corners.
Senior Amy Lewis (Hainesport, N.J.), the reigning BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, continues to pace the nation in points (4.40) and goals per game (2.10). She has 21 goals on the year. Sophomore Jenna Bull (Oakville, Ontario) is ranked 21st in assists per game.
The Cardinals (4-5, 1-1) split a pair of games last week, suffering a loss to No. 6 Iowa and posting a 3-1 win over conference foe and then No. 4 ranked Connecticut. Junior goalkeeper Heather Bustanoby was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week for her role in the Cardinals' upset over UConn.
