Gusman Named to Soccer America Team of the Week

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - A day after being named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, Rutgers junior forward Caycie Gusman (Honolulu, Hawaii) was named to the Soccer America Team of the Week, the publication announced Tuesday.
Gusman scored consecutive game-winners in Rutgers 1-0 wins over Pittsburgh (Oct. 3) and No. 9 West Virginia (Oct. 5). The junior leads the team with seven goals on the season, putting her in a tie for fourth-place in the BIG EAST. Gusman also received BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week honors on Sept. 1.
After RU's 2-0 week, the Scarlet Knights find themselves ranked 10th in the latest RPI rankings. Rutgers is the second-highest ranked BIG EAST squad, behind Notre Dame (No. 5). Portland is ranked No. 1; the Pilots defeated RU 1-0 on Sept. 26.
The Scarlet Knights are also ranked in multiple national polls, including Soccer America (No. 14), National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas (No. 21), SoccerBuzz (No. 23), Soccer Times (T-No. 23) and Top Drawer Soccer (No. 28). The Scarlet Knights are tied at No. 2 in the NSCAA/adidas mid-atlantic region poll.
Rutgers returns to action to face BIG EAST foe Louisville on Friday, Oct. 10, for New Jersey Youth Soccer Night.
