Scarlet Knights Fall in Season Finale

CINCINNATI, Ohio. – The Rutgers women’s volleyball team wrapped up its 2008 season with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-17) defeat at BIG EAST foe Cincinnati Sunday afternoon at the Fifth Third Arena.
The Scarlet Knights end the season 2-22 overall and 1-13 in BIG EAST play, while the Bearcats end their regular season with a 25-5 mark overall and 12-2 record in league action.
Sophomore Emma Chrystal (Portage, Mich.) led a Scarlet Knights with nine kills. Classmate Caitlin Saxton (Encinitas, Calif.) concluded her stellar season with eight kills and a team-high 10 digs against the Bearcats.
Saxton ends the year with 209 kills, best on the team, and 200 digs, second best on the squad.
Cincinnati, which locked up the No. 2 seed in the upcoming BIG EAST Tournament, was led by Jessie Nevitt and Stephanie Niemer. Nevitt tallied a match-high 13 kills, while Niemer added 11 kills and three digs.
