Lewis, a midfielder, was tabbed to the Mid-Atlantic first team for the second straight year after finishing second in the BIG EAST in goals (24) and third in points per game (2.80). She earned the league’s Offensive Player of the Year award and concluded the regular season ranked third in the country in goals per game, averaging 1.20 per game. This past season, Lewis became the all-time Rutgers program leader in both goals and points this past season. She scored 71 goals and 14 assists over her career.
“I am very proud of Amy. This caps off an amazing career for her at Rutgers. She is one of the most gifted players, I have ever coached,” said sixth-year head coach Liz Tchou.
Browne, a defender, was placed on the region’s second team. The senior was a key component for a Scarlet Knights’ defense which limited opponents to a 1.78 goals per game this past season. She started 75 of 77 career games, including every contest her sophomore, junior and senior seasons. Browne was a three-time captain for the squad.
Bull, in just her second collegiate season, was also named to the Mid-Atlantic second team. The midfielder led the Scarlet Knights in assists in 2008, recording 10 on the season. She also tallied four goals to register a total 18 points.
"For Jenna and Caitlin to receive this accolade as a left half and left mid is wonderful. It is extremely hard to work the ball from the left side and they worked very hard to help lead a strong attack. They were a great pair,” said Tchou. “All three of these young women are amazing leaders.”
Rutgers finished the season with a 14-6 record, the most wins for the program since 1997 (14-7) and just one win off the program-best of 15 wins (1984). In addition, the six losses were the fewest for an RU team since 1986 (14-6-2).
