Rutgers Ranked No. 16 In Final Soccer Times Poll

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Rutgers women’s soccer team (13-7-2) finished the season ranked No. 16 by Soccer Times, the publication announced Tuesday. The Scarlet Knights reached the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament before falling at Stanford, 1-0 in Palo Alto, Calif.
The Scarlet Knights were also ranked No. 16 by Top Drawer Soccer and No. 21 by National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas, in the two organizations’ final polls. RU entered the NCAA Tournament unranked, but defeated No. 20 Penn State 2-1 in double-overtime and earned a 0-0 tie with No. 7 Oklahoma State, advancing 4-2 on penalty kicks.
Rutgers junior goalkeeper Erin Guthrie (Sparta, N.J.) picked up more post-season accolades, earning Soccer America Second Team MVP honors. Guthrie was also an NSCAA/adidas Second Team All-American while being named to the All-Mid-Atlantic First Team and All-BIG EAST Second Team. The junior recorded a career-high 87 saves while posting a goals-against average of 0.62 and save percentage of 0.861.
