PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers women's basketball will unveil a new 'look' on Monday, Feb. 11 at Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville, Tenn.
The Scarlet Knights, set to face Tennessee in a rematch of last year's NCAA Final, will sport pink uniforms in an effort to help promote breast cancer awareness. The new gear, complete with shooting shirts and 'Think Pink' shoes, are courtesy of Nike.
The Jimmy V Foundation for Cancer Research, in collaboration with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), launched the initiative to 'Think Pink' on December 3 at Louis Brown Athletic Center on the Rutgers campus. The program honors N.C. State women's head coach Kay Yow, who is currently battling the disease.
More than 800 universities will participate in some capacity in the event which also coincides with ESPN's 'February Frenzy' of games. Fans are encouraged at each venue to don the color pink in support.
