Rutgers Finishes Second Nationally in Strength of Schedule

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers women's basketball was ranked among the nation's best in a pair of women's basketball rating percentage index (RPI) polls released on Tuesday by Judy Southard, chair of the Division I Women's Basketball Committee.
The Scarlet Knights posted the second-toughest schedule in the nation in 2007-08 (in all games). RU finished fourth in the country - out of 338 collegiate women's basketball programs - in overall RPI. Tennessee held the top spot in both strength of schedule (SOS) and RPI. BIG EAST rival Connecticut was second in RPI and ranked third in SOS.
The Scarlet Knights (27-7) held a 9-7 mark against teams ranked in the top-25 last season.
The BIG EAST conference has the second-best winning percentage among the 32 leagues. The BIG EAST - with 16 schools - boasted a winning percentage of .623, second-only to the Big 12 Conference (.627). Rutgers finished 16th in the NCAA in winning percentage this past season.
