KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Kansas City Chiefs announced Friday that former Rutgers standout strong safety Ron Girault (Spring Valley, N.Y.) has signed a free agent contract with the organization. Girault, a four-year starter for the Scarlet Knights, is the 16th former Scarlet Knight to be on a current NFL roster.
Girault is the fourth member of the class of 2007 to earn a spot in the NFL, joining Ray Rice (Second round pick of the Baltimore Ravens in 2008 NFL Draft), Jeremy Zuttah (Third round pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2008 NFL Draft) and Eric Foster (Free agent signing with the Indianapolis Colts).
Girault totaled 271 career tackles in 45 games, including 17 pass break ups, four forced fumbles and fumble recoveries and two blocked kicks. His 10 career interceptions are tied for ninth in Rutgers history.
