Rutgers Athletics Mourns the Passing of Peter Savino

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Peter Joseph Savino of Seaside Park passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2008, at Jersey Shore University Hospital in Neptune. He was 61.
He was born and raised in Perth Amboy and lived in Hillsborough and Toms River previously.
Mr. Savino was a 1969 graduate of Rutgers University, where he played and later coached football. He remained active with the RU athletic program. He was on the board of directors of Rutgers Football Letterwinners Association and was chairman of Ball of Fame Committee.
He also coached at Columbia University in New York. He was a member and past president of Daybreak Kiwanis Club in Toms River, and a past officer at Toms River Country Club. Peter was currently employed as a vice president, financial consultant at RBC Wealth Management. He was an avid golfer, loved to travel and the beach, and absolutely nothing was more important to him than his family.
He is survived by his wife, Jill Scharer Savino; two daughters and sons-in-law, Suzanne and Richard Rothrock of Ellicott City, Md., and Randy and Matthew Hasik of Grapevine, Texas, and two granddaughters Jessica and Abigale Rothrock, who made him smile every day.
