Amy Lewis Earns Preseason Field Hockey Honors

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers midfielder Amy Lewis (Hainesport, N.J.) has been selected as the BIG EAST Preseason Offensive Player of the Year in a vote by head coaches, it was announced by the league office today. Lewis was a unanimous selection to the All-BIG EAST Preseason Team.
The New Jersey product is a three-time all-BIG EAST honoree. She was a first team selection last fall and was also tabbed to the NFHCA Mid-Atlantic Region squad.
Lewis led the BIG EAST with 20 goals and 44 points last season. She was also first among league leaders with six game-winning goals. Lewis finished the season ranked first in the country in goals per game (1.05) and second among the nation's best in points per game (2.32).
Rutgers earned 11 points in the preseason coaches poll, placing fifth.
The Scarlet Knights concluded the 2007 regular season with an 8-11 mark, recording the most program wins since 2000. They return 13 letterwinners and seven starters this season. The 2008 campaign kicks off with a home match versus Indiana on Friday, August 29 at 7:30 p.m.
