Lewis Named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Senior Amy Lewis (Hainesport, N.J.) was selected the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, it was announced on Monday afternoon. The forward earned the league accolade for the second time this season.
Lewis tallied four goals and added an assist this past week in two games for the Scarlet Knights. She registered one score in a 3-2 victory over Lafayette on Tuesday, Sept. 9 and scored three goals and had an assist in a 4-2 win over Temple on Sunday.
The third goal versus the Owls was the 60th of Lewis' career, tying the program mark for goals in a career. Lewis matched the 60 goals scored by Andschana Mendes from 1998 to 2001.
Lewis leads the nation in points per game (4.67) and goals per game (2.17). She has recorded 13 goals in six games for Rutgers. RU is 6-0 on the season, tying the best start in RU field hockey history (1997, 1988).
In addition to league honors, Lewis was named to the womensfieldhockey.com honor roll.
Rutgers is back in action on Friday, Sept. 19 hosting league foe Villanova at 7:30 p.m. at RU Stadium Complex. The Scarlet Knights entertain VCU on Sunday, Sept. 21 at 1:00 p.m.
