PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers field hockey is ranked No. 17 in the latest STX/NFHCA Division I poll released on Tuesday afternoon. The poll is voted upon by National Field Hockey Coaches Association member coaches. RU compiled 229 votes in the weekly rankings.
Rutgers is 6-0 on the season, matching its best start in school history. The Scarlet Knights recorded an identical mark in 1997 and 1988. The last time RU earned votes in the NFCHA poll was last season (9/4/07).
Senior Amy Lewis (Hainesport, N.J.) was selected the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. The forward earned the league accolade for the second time this season.
