Rutgers Field Hockey Remains at No. 17 in Rankings

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - For the second week in a row, Rutgers is ranked No. 17 in the STX/NFHCA Division I field hockey poll. The poll, released every Tuesday, is voted upon by National Field Hockey Coaches Association member coaches.
The Scarlet Knights are 7-1 on the season, splitting a pair of contests this past week. On Friday, Sept. 19, RU dropped a 3-1 game to Villanova. Following their first loss of the year, the Scarlet Knights rebounded with a 4-0 victory over VCU on Sunday. RU is just one win shy of equaling the win total of last season (8-11).
Senior Amy Lewis (Hainesport, N.J.) was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll on Monday. The forward became the program's all-time leader in goals scored on Friday versus the Wildcats. She has tallied 64 in her career.
In addition to pacing the league, Lewis leads the nation in points per game (4.50) and goals per game (2.13). Sophomore Jenna Bull (Oakville, Ontario) is tied for 14th in the country in assists per game (.75)
As a team, Rutgers is ranked in the top-20 in a number of statistical categories. The Scarlet Knights are tied for ninth in goals per game (3.50) tenth in scoring average (3.39) and place 12th in both points (9.50/gm) and scoring margin (1.82). RU places 14th in penalty corners (8.50/gm) and 16th in assists (2.50/gm) in the weekly NCAA statistics.
In the first NCAA RPI ranking of the season, Rutgers is at No. 10. There are 11 conferences and 78 teams represented in the Division I RPI. The next RPI will be published on Oct. 7
Rutgers returns to BIG EAST play on Friday, Sept. 26 traveling to College Park, Md. for a 6:00 p.m. matchup with Georgetown. On Sunday, Sept. 28, the Scarlet Knights host New Hampshire at 1:00 p.m. at RU Stadium Complex.
