Player Profiles: Ashley Bragg and Kaci Madden

The Rutgers Softball team welcomes eight newcomers to the team for the 2010 season, including Ashley Bragg (Middletown, Del.) and Kaci Madden (Saratoga, N.Y.).
Bragg comes to Rutgers from Middletown, Del., where she attended Caravel Academy. During her high school career, Bragg led her team to four State Championship appearances. The four-year varsity starter, she helped guide her team to a Delaware State Championship as a freshman.
Bragg earned All-State honors as a middle infielder all four years at Caravel. As a senior Bragg earned First Team All-State at shortstop. At the hot corner, she earned Second Team All-State as a junior and All-State Honorable Mention as a sophomore.
As a captain, Bragg participated in the Delaware Blue-Gold Senior All-Star game. Outside of school, Bragg played for the Delaware Magic and the Newtown Rock Gold squads.
A true student athlete, Bragg was on the Honor Roll each year, winning the Presidential Scholars Award and graduated from Caravel with honors. While attending Rutgers, Bragg plans on majoring in Exercise Science.
Madden comes to Rutgers from Saratoga, N.Y., where she attended Saratoga Springs High School. At SSHS, Madden was an NYS Section 2 Class AA Suburban Council First Team All Star all four years. Madden was named team MVP her sophomore, junior, and senior seasons. She claimed earned New York State All Star honors two years in a row.
Madden, a four-year varsity starter, was selected by Adidas Futures as one of the nation’s “Top 100 Eligible Recruits”. The Saratoga, N.Y. product was awarded the George J. Pulver and Madeline Mangini Scarano scholarships for excellence as student athlete.
During her senior season, Madden played for the Connecticut Panther Gold as starting catcher. She also competed at catcher and shortstop for the Northeast Patriots.
Academically, Madden, a member of National Honor Society, held the second highest grade point average of all student athletes at SSHS. She ranked 10th overall in her class with a 4.0 GPA. While attending Rutgers, Madden plans on majoring in Biomedical Engineering.
