Player Profile: Jen Harabedian and Kelsey Peretti

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Oct. 23, 2009) – The Rutgers Softball team welcomes eight newcomers to the team for the 2010 season, including Jen Harabedian (Flemington, N.J.) and Kelsey Peretti (Vineland, N.J.).
Harabedian comes to Rutgers from Hunterdon Central. A three-year letterwinner, as a senior she received Player of the Year from The Courier News and earned First Team All-State honors. A three-time First Team All-Conference honoree, Harabedian was also honored with her team’s Most Valuable Player Award. The Flemington, N.J. local was a two-time All-County and All-West Jersey First Team honoree.
As a junior year she achieved Second Team All-State and earned Hunterdon County Democratic Player of the Year.
Not only was Harabedian an integral component of her high school softball team, she was also a team captain on her travel team, Tuff-N-Tuffer (TNT) Gold, from 2008-2009.
While attending Rutgers, Harabedian plans on majoring in Education. She is the daughter of Donna and John, and her sister Kristen is a gymnast at North Carolina State.
Peretti transfers to Rutgers from West Chester University in Pennsylvania. Named to the All-Conference First Team out of Vineland High School, Peretti was a four-year starter at shortstop and team co-captain during her final campaign.
As a senior, Peretti led her team to win the Cape Atlantic League Championship, boasting a .418 batting average and contributing 16 stolen bases and 28 RBI.
With her club team, the Jersey Starfire, Peretti boasted a .380 batting average with 11 stolen bases, finishing sixth at the NSA Super World Series in Peoria, Ill. Her squad qualified for ASA Nationals in 2003 and 2004 and won the 16U State Championship in 2005.
Academically, Peretti was a member of the National Honor Society and graduated Cum Laude. While attending Rutgers, Peretti intends to major in Exercise Science, interested in a future career in Sports Rehabilitation Physical Therapy.
