PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Oct. 26, 2009) – Rutgers women’s soccer redshirt freshman Stefanee Pace (Kearny, N.J.) earned a spot on the BIG EAST Honor Roll, it was announced by the conference Monday afternoon.
This is the first BIG EAST accolade for the redshirt freshman. Pace notched both assists to extend her team-leading total to six in 2009. In the 1-0 win over Cincinnati, Pace corralled the corner kick from sophomore Julie Lancos (Belford, N.J.), taking a shot that hit the crossbar. Junior Kelsey Dumont (Wrightsville, Pa.) sent the rebound past the UC netminder for the score.
Against Louiville, Pace again took a shot from inside the box that Louisville keeper Katie Zoeller saved. Redshirt freshman April Price (Mechanicsville, Va.) was right there for the rebound, tying the game. The match would stay knotted, 1-1.
Over the weekend, the Scarlet Knights clinched a bye and home field advantage in the BIG EAST Tournament. RU will take on West Virginia – the No. 3 seed in the American Division – Sunday, Nov. 1 at 1 p.m.
