PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Nov. 10, 2009) –Rutgers women’s soccer senior defender Jen Anzivino (Middletown, N.J.) was named the Mid-Atlantic winner of the Academic Momentum Award, the Scholar-Baller® Program and National Consortium for Academics and Sports (NCAS) announced Tuesday. Anzivino – an All-BIG EAST First Team selection – majors in communications at Rutgers and has led the back to 11 shutouts this season.
“Jenifer has made tremendous strides in the classroom growing into the Dean’s List student she is today,” said athletic academic advisor Randi Larson. “This is a well-deserved honor for someone who is a true example of how hard work and dedication can lead to success. I am so proud of Jen’s accomplishments both on and off the field.”
Anzivino tied with Erin Clark of the University of Illinois at Chicago for the Mid-Atlantic accolade. The captain developed key study habits, set personal goals, and worked hard to achieve those goals to improve her academic performance. Her efforts paid off during the spring of 2008, as Anzivino garnered Dean’s List honors with a 3.6 GPA. During her time at Rutgers has actively participated in Read Across America and RU’s annual Toy Drive and Delivery to less fortunate children during the holiday season.
