Rutgers Field Hockey Debuts 2009 Fall Schedule

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers field hockey officially released its 2009 fall schedule on Wednesday.
The Scarlet Knights open the season on the last weekend in August, entertaining Drexel on Saturday, August 29 and West Chester on August 30.
After five consecutive away contests, RU returns to its home confines on Sunday, Sept. 20 to host Maine for the start of three straight home games (Sept, 20- Maine; Sept 25- Georgetown; Sept. 27- Sacred Heart).
The Knights and seventh-year head coach Liz Tchou begin BIG EAST play at Villanova on Friday, Sept. 18 with a 7:00 p.m. showdown. In addition to Georgetown and Villanova, league games at Louisville (Oct. 2) and home contests versus Providence (Oct. 9) and UConn (Oct. 24) also dot the slate. RU closes out the regular season with an Oct. 31 road match-up with 2008 league champion Syracuse.
Rutgers concluded the 2008 season with a 14-6 record, the most wins for the program since 1997 (14-7) and just one win off the program-best of 15 victories (1984). In addition, the six losses were the fewest for an RU team since 1986 (14-6-2).
