PISCATAWAY, N.J (October 1, 2010) – The Rutgers volleyball team dropped a three set match to the University of Pittsburgh this evening at College Ave Gym.

The Panthers (7-11, 2-1 BIG EAST) posted scores of 25-21, 25-21 and 25-8 to knock off the Scarlet Knights (7-9, 0-3 BIG EAST).

The Rutgers offense was paced by captains Stephanie Zielinski (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) and Caitlin Saxton (Encinitas, Calif.). Saxton notched a team-high 10 kills while Zielinski paced the squad with 28 assists. The RU defense was led by Kallie Pence (College Station, Texas) who recorded a match-high 12 digs.

The Scarlet Knights return to action Sunday when they host the West Virginia Mountaineers in a 2 p.m. matchup at College Ave. Gym.
