
Rutgers Volleyball Readies for Georgetown and USF

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (October 28, 2010) – The Rutgers volleyball team (9-13, 1-7 BIG EAST) will conclude it four-match BIG EAST road trip this weekend as it hits the road for matchups with Georgetown (13-12, 3-6 BIG EAST) and USF (9-11, 5-4 BIG EAST).
In their first contest of the weekend, the Scarlet Knights will face Georgetown, Friday, Oct. 20, at 8 p.m. The Hoyas, who are coming off losses against Cincinnati and Louisville, have been led offensively by Ashley Malone who has tallied 982 assists on the season. The GU defense is led by Lindsay Wise who has 121 total blocks. The Hoyas, who are 14-25 all-time vs. RU, are coached by Arlisa Williams who is in her fifth season with the program.
In its second matchup of the weekend, Rutgers faces the USF Bulls on Sunday, Oct. 31, at noon. The Bulls, who dropped a pair of weekend contests against Cincinnati and Louisville, have been led offensively by Allie Boaz who has 194 kills on the season. The Bulls defense has been paced by Janice Rivera who has 333 digs. USF is coached by Claire Lessinger who is in her sixth season with the program. The all-time series record between the two BIG EAST programs is even at four wins apiece.
For the season, RU has been paced by Stephanie Zielinski (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) and fellow captain Caitlin Saxton (Encinitas, Calif.). Zielinski leads the squad in assists (764) and digs (206), while Saxton paces the squad in kills (239).
