
Rutgers Volleyball Prepares for Notre Dame and DePaul

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (November 12, 2010) -The Rutgers volleyball team (10-16, 2-10 BIG EAST) will host a pair of BIG EAST rivals, Notre Dame and DePaul, this weekend at College Ave. Gym to close out its 2010 season. Sundays match with DePaul, which will be broadcast live on KnightVision Broadband via www.scarletknights.com, will serve as the final home match for seniors Emma Chrystal (Portage, Mich.), Katie Groff (York, Pa.), Caitlin Saxton (Encinitas, Calif.) and Lauren Voss (Hartland, Wis.).
In their first contest of the weekend, the Scarlet Knights will face the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (15-11, 8-4 BIG EAST) on Saturday at 10 a.m. The Irish, who are coming off a three set loss to No. 13 Iowa, have been led by Andrea McHugh who has a team-high 329 kills. Notre Dame, which is coached by Debbie Brown, is 17-0 all-time against RU.
In the second matchup of the weekend, Rutgers will take on the DePaul Blue Demons (4-21, 1-8 BIG EAST) on Sunday at 2 p.m. DePaul, which has lost three-straight BIG EAST matches, is coached by Nadia Edwards who is in her first season with the program. Rutgers leads the all-time series with DPU 4-3 thanks to a 3-1 victory in Chicago last season.
For the season, Rutgers has been led by Saxton and fellow captainStephanie Zielinski (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.). Saxton leads the team in kills (285), while Zielinski paces the squad in assists (926) and digs (257).
