Rutgers Softball Heads To Frost Classic

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (Feb. 25, 2010) - Rutgers softball travels to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga this Friday, Feb. 25 through Sunday, Feb. 28 for the 11th annual Frost Classic. The Scarlet Knights will compete against Miami of Ohio, host Chattanooga, East Tennessee State, Austin Peay and Wright State. RU is looking to grab their first win of the season.
Last weekend, at the ASU Littlewood Classic, RU finished the weekend 0-5 against tough competition. Sophomore Brittany Lindley (Cicero, N.Y.) leads the Scarlet Knights with a .273 batting average. Senior right-handed ace Nicole Lindley (Cicero, N.Y.) leads the team in ERA, games started, innings pitched, and opponent batting average.
Friday, Rutgers will begin the tournament with Miami of Ohio (0-2) at 3 p.m. The squads have met five times in the all-time series. Miami of Ohio leads the series, 3-2. Miami is led by Taylor Rice, who is batting .667 with an on-base percentage of .750.
Later in the day, Rutgers will face host Chattanooga (7-2) at 3 p.m. Rutgers and Chattanooga are tied in their all-time series (1-1). Chattanooga is led by Tiffany Baker, who is 11-for-24 on the year with five homeruns and 10 RBI.
On Saturday, Rutgers takes on East Tennessee State (4-3) at 3 p.m. This will be the first meeting between the two squads. Leading ETSU is Ariel Garner, batting .500 with four RBI.
At 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, the Scarlet Knights will face Austin Peay (1-4) for the first time in program history. Leading the Lady Govs is sophomore outfielder Tiffany Smith, who is slugging at a .636 clip and has driven in three runs.
On Sunday at 10 a.m., the Scarlet Knights will conclude the tournament with Wright State (2-5). This will be the first meeting between the squads. Wright State is lead by senior Kristen Bradshaw with a .524 batting average and six RBI. GAME NOTES
