Holly Johnson Named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (March 8, 2010) - Rutgers softball left-handed hurler Holly Johnson (Cheektowaga, N.Y.) earned BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week for the first time in her career, it was announced by the conference Monday.
Johnson aided Rutgers (5-10) to three wins over the weekend at the USF Under Armour Invitational, as the Scarlet Knights picked up four of their five wins on the season in Clearwater, Fla.
The sophomore appeared in four games, winning two and notching one save. The hurler entered in relief against Bradley and scattered two hits in 4.1 innings to earn the 5-4 victory. Johnson continued her strong play in a 2-1 eight-inning affair, giving up just two hits. The left got the save against Western Michigan, striking out five batters in 2.1 innings.
Over the weekend, Johnson allowed a total of seven hits over 18.2 innings, striking out 10 batters while giving up just one earned run for a 0.48 ERA.
The Scarlet Knights return to the diamond on Friday, March 12 at 11 a.m. for the Oklahoma State Mizuno Classic against Wisconsin. Johnson's Stats
