PROVIDENCE, R.I. (May 3, 2010) –Sophomore Brittney Lindley (Cicero, N.Y.) of the Rutgers softball team was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll, the conference announced Monday. Lindley surpassed Nikki Childress (2004) for the RU single-season home run record with her 13th blast of the season against Pittsburgh.
This is the second-consecutive nod from the conference for the sophomore.
The third baseman went 6-for-11 (.545) with four runs, a double, two home runs and four RBI in a 3-1 week that saw the Scarlet Knights clinch its first BIG EAST Championship berth since 1998. In the must-win game against the Panthers, Lindley was a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI.
Against LIU on Tuesday, the sophomore blasted a homer in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings in a game the Scarlet Knights would eventually win, 2-1.
Lindley and the rest of the Rutgers softball team take on DePaul in the BIG EAST Championship at Louisville, Thursday, May, 13 at 12:30 p.m.
