May 03 | Softball
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (May 3, 2010) –Sophomore Brittney Lindley (Cicero, N.Y.) of the Rutgers softball team was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll, the conference announced Monday. The third baseman went 7-for-11 (.636) over five games last week and slugged at a 1.455 clip.
This is the first career nod from the conference for the sophomore.
At the plate, Lindley blasted two home runs – both in clutch situations – to move within one of the all-time RU single season home run record held by Nikki Childress (2004). The No. 3 batter was walked four times – twice intentionally – for a .737 on-base percentage. She also hit for the cycle on the day against St. John’s (May 1).
In the field, Lindley had six putouts and nine assists while committing no errors at the hot corner.
Against St. John’s, Lindley did most of her damage, going 6-for-7 with five runs scored, three RBI and two home runs.
Lindley and the rest of the Scarlet Knights take on Long Island Tuesday, May, 4 at 4:30 p.m.
