
Rutgers Men's Soccer Continues Homestand Against LIU, Hartford

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (September 16, 2010) - The Rutgers men's soccer team will host two games this weekend at Yurcak Field. RU will face LIU on Friday, Sept. 17, at 7p.m. in a match that will be broadcast live on KnightVision Broadband via www.ScarletKnights.com.
In their second match of the weekend, the Scarlet Knights will host Hartford on Sunday, Sept. 19 at 2:30 p.m. That contest will air on Verizon FiOS1 and stream live on KnightVision Broadband.
Last weekend, Rutgers (1-1-1) was unbeaten at home tying Delaware 2-2 in a match that went into double overtime. The Scarlet Knights then defeated Saint Peter's 2-0 for their first win of the season.
RU's senior forward Yannick Salmon (Westbury, N.J.) paces the Scarlet Knights with two goals, including a score in the last 31 seconds of regular play against Delaware that forced the game into overtime.
Rutgers has also received one goal apiece from Andrew Cuevas (Wayne, N.J.) and Ibrahim Kamara (North Brunswick, N.J.). Junior Robbie McLarney (Londonderry, N.H.) leads the team in assists with two.
RU looks to add to its win total against LIU which is 2-2 on the season. LIU defeated Cornell and NJIT, while suffering losses to Winthrop and UCF. The Blackbird's offense is led by Juan Lanza and Nik Conklin with two goals each on the season.
Rutgers is 1-7-1 in the all-time series against LIU. RU's only victory came in 1965 when the Scarlet Knights topped the Blackbirds 3-2.
On Sunday, RU will continue its homestand taking on Hartford (2-2) at 2:30 p.m. in the first-time meeting between the two teams. Hartford visits Piscataway on a two-game win streak following a pair of shutouts. Patrick Boucher leads the Hawks' attack with one goal and one assist on the season.
