
Bing Named BIG EAST Special Teams Player of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (September 6, 2010) – Rutgers senior defensive back Brandon Bing (Wyncote, Pa.) was named the BIG EAST Special Teams Player of the Week by the conference office Monday. Bing blocked two punts, including one that was returned for a touchdown, in Rutgers’ 31-0 victory over Norfolk State.
The weekly player of the week honor was the first of Bing’s career.
Bing also contributed four tackles as a starter at cornerback as Rutgers limited Norfolk State to 147 yards of total offense.
The BIG EAST also named Alex Silvestro (Gibbstown, N.J.) to its weekly honor roll for his efforts in the victory over Norfolk State. Silvestro totaled five tackles, including four behind the line of scrimmage, along with one sack and a pass breakup versus the Spartans.
Rutgers returns to action Saturday, Sept. 11 at FIU. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. from FIU Stadium in Miami. The game will be televised nationally by ESPN GamePlan PPV and will be available locally on SNY and WPVI-DT2.
