
Woeller Named Player of Match Against Argentina

Guadalajara, Mexico (Oct. 20, 2011) – Rutgers women’s soccer forward Amy Pietrangelo (Laval, Quebec, Canada) and center back Shannon Woeller (Vancouver, BC, Canada) saw major action with the Canadian National Team, leading the squad to a 1-0 win over Argentina at the Pan American Games held at Estadio Omnilife. Woeller was named the Player of the Match after playing a full 90 minutes.
With its second-consecutive win, Canada qualified for the semifinal stage of the XVI Pan American Games Guadalajara 2011 Women’s Football Tournament.
Canada will face Brazil on Oct. 22 at 9 p.m. ET in its final group match contest. Canada is the defending bronze medal winner from the last Pan American Games Women’s Football Tournament in 2007.
