CHICAGO (November 5, 2011) - Four players registered double-digit kills, but Rutgers University volleyball fell on the road to DePaul University on Saturday afternoon at McGrath-Phillips Arena. The Blue Demons won by scores of 25-16, 28-30, 17-25, 25-17 and 15-12.
It was the seventh five-set match for Rutgers (8-20, 1-10 BIG EAST) this season and second in a row.
Senior Hannah Curtis (Wasilla, Alaska) and freshman Sofi Cucuz (Crown Point, Ind.) led RU on offense, with each recording 14 kills. Sophomores Tiffany Regmund (Bryan, Texas) and Brittany Bozzini (Saratoga, Calif.) also sparked the attack with 13 and 11 kills, respectively.
Junior setter Stephanie Zielinski (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) extended her double-double streak to sixth-straight matches with 54 assists and 10 digs. It was her eighth match with at least 50 assists this season. Zielinski leads the BIG EAST with 16 double-doubles.
Defensively, senior libero Kallie Pence (College Station, Texas) tallied 20 digs to bring her season total to 347 - eighth-most in Rutgers history. Bozzini also had 11 digs to notch her fifth double-double of the year. Junior Kelsey Ross (Orinda, Calif.) added 13 pickups off the bench.
Lauren Blasi led DePaul (7-19, 3-8 BIG EAST) with 16 digs and 15 kills.
Rutgers will be right back in action on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Notre Dame.
