
Rutgers Tennis Drops Buffalo, 7-0

Manasquan, N.J. (Feb. 18, 2011) – The Rutgers tennis team (4-2) blanked Buffalo (2-3) by a score of 7-0 Friday afternoon at the Atlantic Club in Manasquan, N.J.
“This match we played extremely competitive doubles and we finished it with very strong singles,” said head coach Ben Bucca. “This was a good win over a well coached and strong Buffalo team that finished higher in the ITA rankings last year. We’re confident and we look forward to our first BIG EAST match against Louisville next weekend.”
At No. 1 singles, senior Amy Zhang (Plano, Texas) improved to 4-2 on the year with a dominating 6-0, 6-1 win over Diana Popescu. FreshmanVanessa Petrini (Stamford, Conn.) took her win streak to six with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Miranda Podlas at the No. 6 position.
In double action, Zhang paired with Jennifer Holzberg (Easton, Conn.) to take down Popescu and Podlas in a well-fought 9-7 victory.
The Scarlet Knights will be back in action next Saturday, Feb. 26 for their first BIG EAST match of the season at Louisville. Action starts at 2 p.m.
