
Rutgers Men's Soccer Heads to Marquette

Rutgers men’s soccer (4-3-1, 1-0-0 BIG EAST) kick off the month of October on the road in Milwaukee, Wisc. to take on the Marquette Golden Eagles (3-4-2) on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 8:05 p.m. This is just the third matchup between the two teams with the series tied at 1-1.
RU is coming off a 3-3 draw against Adlephi as sophomore Kene Eze (Sayreville, N.J.) scored three goals to lead the Scarlet Knights (4-3-1) at home. Eze’s hat trick was the first for Rutgers since 2003, and the fifth at Yurcak Field.
Eze leads Rutgers in points with 12 on five goals and two assists. Freshman forward Juan Pablo Correa (Montville, N.J.) is second with 11 points, on four goals and three assists. Junior Kevin McMullen (Blackwood, N.J.) has started the last six games in goal for the Scarlet Knights with a 1.49 goals-against-average and 17 saves.
Marquette is coming off a 1-1 draw that went into double overtime at Wisconsin on Wednesday. Sophomore Eric Pothast scored his first goal of the season for the Golden Eagles’ only score of the match.
James “C.” Nortey leads Marquette in points this season with 11 on five goals and one assist. Andy Huftalin is second with five points on two goals and one assist. Goalkeeper David Check has posted a 1.35 goals-against-average for the Golden Eagles with 55 saves.
